New Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge details will make you even more excited to visit Disney World 1

The names of the two major attractions of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge have been revealed.

During his presentation at D23’s Destination D event at Walt Disney World Resort a couple of weeks ago, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled two videos that revealed the names of the two main attractions of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge that will open at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort next year.

Entitled Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, the first attraction puts guests into the cockpit of the titular Corellian light freighter and lets them take over the ship’s controls in one of three unique flight crew roles. To succeed in their mission, guests must channel their inner Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca, and Rey to properly operate around 200 controls in the cockpit.

New York Times reporter Brook Barnes tried a test version of the ride and found it “pretty amazing.” While guests will be in the cockpit with a few others, Barnes noted that the attraction can accommodate around 1,800 guests per hour.

Though construction is still ongoing, aerial images, which made rounds on social media just before Thanksgiving, show that the replica of the Millennium Falcon had arrived at Disneyland Resort.

In the second attraction called Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, park-goers will find themselves in the middle of an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order. They will end up aboard a Star Destroyer where they will have to take down 50 audio-animatronic Stormtroopers and will also have to go against Kylo Ren in an encounter no one has ever experienced before.

Aside from these two thrilling attractions, the land’s dynamic elements and optional interactive integration with the Play Disney Parks app will make guests feel that they are living the life of a real galactic traveler. Visitors can drop by a street market in Black Spire Outpost, shop delicacies at food stalls, or even stay at the Cantina where they can see Rex and other iconic characters from the epic space opera franchise.

The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disneyland Resort in summer 2019 and at Walt Disney World Resort in fall 2019.
