Supergirl season 6 may end with the death of Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers

Supergirl may be killed off in upcoming season 6 1

Fans were devastated when it was revealed last September that Supergirl would be wrapping up with its upcoming season 6. And if you’re thinking that the Melissa Benoist-led series will have a happy ending to contrast the heartbreaking series finale of Arrow earlier this year, well, don’t get your hopes too high, as a new report claims that the Girl of Steel may end up having the same fate as Oliver Queen.

We Got This Covered reported that Supergirl season 6 could possibly conclude with the shocking death of the titular hero. Sources ― the same people who revealed that the series was being canceled before it was officially announced ― told the news outlet that Kara Danvers will be killed off in the final season of The CW series.

While it’s not clear how exactly it will happen, sources said the decision to kill off Kara at the end of the series was made because Benoist is ready to move on to other roles and is not keen in returning to the Arrowverse for special events like the annual crossover.

Supergirl has been a hopeful show since it debuted in 2015, so it will really surprise fans if Kara ends up dying at the end of the series. But if the circumstances surrounding her death will lead to an impactful ending, then it won’t be hard for viewers to accept her ultimate fate.

Plot details about season 6 are being kept under wraps, but in an Instagram post last September, Benoist promised that they’re “going to make it one helluva final season.”

Production on the new season began last October, though Benoist ― who gave birth to her first child with Chris Wood last September ― won’t return to work until January 2021. Supergirl season 6 doesn’t have a release date yet, but filming is expected to wrap on August 6th, 2021.

In addition to Benoist, cast members Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers), David Harewood (J’onn J’onzz), Katie McGrath (Lena Luthor), Jesse Rath (Brainiac 5), Nicole Maines (Nia Nal), Julie Gonzalo (Andrea Rojas), Staz Nair (William Dey), and Jon Cryer (Lex Luthor) are all reprising their roles in the final season.
