DC’s Legends of Tomorrow was officially renewed for season 7 last February, and while the show’s season 6 has yet to debut in May, some fans are already wondering when they can expect season 7 to premiere on The CW.
Unfortunately, there’s no official word yet on when season 7 will come out, as production on season 6 is not over yet. In fact, series star Caity Lotz revealed in an Instagram post last week that filming for the show’s season 6 finale will just start on Monday, April 26th.

As is the case with previous seasons of the series, Legends of Tomorrow season 7 release date will depend on different factors. For instance, if the CW decides to make more episodes of Legends of Tomorrow for season 7, then fans will likely wait longer than usual for the show’s return. And since the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t over yet, positive test results for the virus among the cast and crew may also halt filming, which can subsequently delay the premiere of the season.
But if everything runs smoothly, Legends of Tomorrow season 7 will probably arrive some time in 2022 or early 2023.
Since Legends of Tomorrow season 6 won’t premiere until next month, no plot details or synopsis has been released yet for season 7.
Cast members who are returning for season 7 are also not clear at this point, but series star Dominic Purcell announced earlier this month that fans will see less of his character, Mick Rory, in the show after season 6.
In a series of since-deleted Instagram posts, Purcell announced that he is leaving Legends of Tomorrow as a series regular after season 6, but will come back “periodically” in season 7 with a “handshake deal with executive producer Phil Klemmer.
Legends of Tomorrow season 6 is set to premiere on Sunday, May 2nd at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
