President Donald Trump’s campaign tweeted a video on Tuesday, depicting him as the Avengers supervillain Thanos.

The 21-second clip shared by Trump War Room Twitter account is a scene of Thanos (Josh Brolin) from the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame with Trump’s head superimposed onto the Mad Titan’s body. When the Trump/Thanos hybrid snaps his finger, the video cuts to Tuesday morning’s press conference where the House Democrats announced their articles of impeachment against the president.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is seen behind the podium, saying, “On this solemn day, I recall the first order of business to members of…” before she, along with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, is wiped away from existence.

“House Democrats can push their sham impeachment all they want,” read the caption of the video. “President Trump’s re-election is inevitable.”

With Thanos being a genocidal warlord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many Twitter users were quick to question the decision to compare the president and his reelection campaign to the villain.

Others also reminded Trump War Room that Avengers: Endgame actually ended with Thanos’ death, so using that clip from Avengers: Endgame where the villain’s arrogance blinds him to the point that he doesn’t realize that he’s actually getting beaten by Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) is obviously a huge mistake.

The controversial tweet was posted hours after House Democrats announced the two articles of impeachment against the president on Tuesday. Those articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress – are charges of wrongdoing that list specific assertions of how the president violated the U.S. Constitution and the oath of his office.
