Exactly one month before Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 7 premiere, ABC dropped a never-before-seen clip from the final 13 episodes of the action-adventure series.
Released on Monday afternoon, the 25-second teaser shows the LMD of Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Alphonso Mackenzie (Henry Simmons), Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet), and Deke Shaw (Jeff Ward) arriving in 1930s New York for the first time. Wearing sets of clothes that are specific to the era, the quartet can’t help but be mesmerized by the whole different world right in front of them.
A poster for Universal Picture’s Dracula movie seen in the very first frame of the video confirms that Coulson and the team are in 1930s New York. Produced by Carl Laemmle, Jr. and Tod Browning, the supernatural horror film made its world debut in the Empire State back in February 12th, 1931.
A separate teaser released three days ago revealed that the crew need to “change the past to rescue the future.” While that’s downright vague, a brief exchange between LMD Coulson and Johnson perfectly sums up the team’s final mission. “So, you’re saying we have to save SHIELD?” Johnson asks LMD Coulson in the clip. To which he answers, “We have to save Hydra.”
While major plot details about the final season are being kept under wraps, Bennet assured fans that they’re in for a treat. In an interview with Digital Spy in October, the actress said that Season 7 and Season 4 are her “favorite” seasons of the series. “It’s a really big pay-up and it’s really, really fun,” she said of the show’s swan song. “When you’ve done six seasons and that many hours of TV, it’s pretty hard on the writers to think what else do we do, and they killed it. Season 7 is a really, really fun one.”
Agents of SHIELD’s final season premieres on Wednesday, May 27th at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
