Chance Perdomo, who played Ambrose Spellman on the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, has been cast in Amazon Prime Video’s yet-to-be-titled The Boys spinoff series.
Perdomo will be one of the show’s lead characters. He will play a young superhero alongside previously announced Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Reina Hardesty, and Maddie Phillips.
Perdomo is the replacement for Shane Paul McGhie, who, along with Aimee Carrero, recently left the series. McGhie’s character has undergone creative changes under new showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, so Perdomo replacing McGhie is not a straight recasting.
What will The Boys spinoff series be about?
Greenlit by Amazon Studios last September, The Boys spinoff series is described as being “part college show, part Hunger Games.” Set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes, which is run by Vought International, the spinoff is an “irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities.”
In an interview with TheWrap back in October 2022, executive producer Eric Kripke revealed that the spinoff series would focus on the G-Men team, a parody of the X-Men, which had been mentioned in season 1 of The Boys.
“I would say it’s loosely inspired by an element of the comics, which is the G-Men. Part of the G-Men is there’s sort of an educational, college experience,” Kripke said at the time. “And we just used that as a jumping-off point, kind of similar to The Boys where we sort of take an initial notion and then we are going to run with it in our own weird direction.”
Chance Perdomo’s acting credits
Aside from his Chilling Adventures of Sabrina role, Perdomo is also known for playing Landon Gibson in the After film franchise. The British actor made his After debut in the franchise’s third installment, After We Fell, which was released in 2021. He is reprising his role in the fourth movie, After Ever Happy, which was scheduled for release later this year.
Perdomo previously received a BAFTA best actor nomination for his performance in the 2018 TV drama Killed By My Debt, and was also honored as BAFTA’s “Breakthrough Brit” for his role in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
The Boys spinoff series release date
The Boys spinoff series doesn’t have a release date yet, but the third season of The Boys is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 3rd.
