The CW delays new episodes of Supergirl and Batwoman

Both superhero series will air reruns on March 29th and April 5th

The CW delays new episodes of Supergirl and Batwoman 1

New episodes of Supergirl and Batwoman, which were originally set to air this Sunday, have been delayed by The CW.

The network was supposed to air Supergirl’s Deux Lex Machina (season 5, episode 18) on March 29th, but it was removed from the schedule and was replaced with a rerun of Back From the Future – Part Two (season 5, episode 12). A rerun of It’s a Super Life (season 5, episode 13) is also scheduled to air next Sunday, April 5th.

Directed by Supergirl star Melissa Benoist, Deux Lex Machina sees Lex (Jon Cryer) laying an intricate plan to bring Lena (Katie McGrath) closer to him, defeat Leviathan’s latest attack, and pit Supergirl (Benoist) and her Super Friends against Leviathan. The episode also reveals how Lex came into power after the Crisis on Infinite Earths. The CW has yet to set a new release date for Deux Lex Machina.

Similarly, Batwoman was originally scheduled to air a new episode titled A Narrow Escape (season 1, episode 17) on March 29th. But the network replaced it with a rerun of A Mad Tea-Party (season 1, episode 9), which will be followed by an encore of How Queer Everything Is Today! (season 1 episode 10) on April 5th.

Directed by The Vampire Diaries alum Paul Wesley, A Narrow Escape finds Batwoman (Ruby Rose) facing a new challenge when an old villain resurfaces to test the heroics of Gotham’s most stand-up citizens. The episode has no new release date yet.

The shift in programming comes after similar delays for The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. While The CW didn’t provide any explanation behind the schedule changes, it may be due to the suspension of all Arrowverse productions in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
