Roughly a month after Disney and Ubuntu Life released their first collaborative Baby Yoda shoes, the entertainment company and the non-profit organization have teamed up once again for a new footwear based on the popular character from the Disney+ Star Wars spinoff, The Mandalorian.
Like Disney and Ubuntu Life’s first Baby Yoda shoes, the newly unveiled Baby Yoda footwear is also a pair of Afridrilles — Spanish espadrille-style shoes that are 100 percent made in Africa. Both Baby Yoda Afridrilles have the look and feel of espadrilles, but are hand-woven by women in Maai Mahiu, Kenya using African custom designs, patterns, and materials — hence the name Afridrille.
The new Baby Yoda Afridrilles feature a repeating pattern of Baby Yoda images on a subdued gray background, which is a stark contrast to the bright orange pattern of the original Baby Yoda Afridrilles.
Priced at $89.95 a pair, both Baby Yoda Afridrilles are customizable. The gray liner of the first shoes and the pink liner of the second shoes are swappable with 11 different colors, including black, white, orange blue, red, yellow, green, purple, and brown.
Available in men’s and women’s sizes, each pair of Baby Yoda Afridrilles helps provide healthcare and education for Kenyan families. Ubuntu Life, in partnership with online marketplace Zazzle, gives back to health and education programs in Kenya. It also creates jobs, bringing more positive impact to the Kenyan community.
Interestingly, the bright orange Baby Yoda pattern featured in the first Baby Yoda Afridrilles are also used on a wide variety of other merchandise items, including iPhone cases, flip flops, notebooks, skateboards, bags, and leggings. All of which are directly available from Zazzle.
Season 2 of The Mandalorian is set to premiere on Disney+ this fall.
