After the pandemic restricted Halloween festivities in 2020 and 2021, trick-or-treating is expected to be back in full force this year. And to help you get the right candy for kids and kids at heart, market intelligence company My Telescope and online bulk candy store CandyStore.com separately conducted a study to determine the most popular candy in America.
What’s the most popular candy bar in America?
With a focus on chocolate candies, My Telescope researched the most searched-for candy brands by state. The Google search volumes of those chocolate candies were then ranked using the marketing metric Share of Search, revealing each state’s most favorite and least favorite chocolate candies.
The results revealed that Snickers is the most popular candy bar in the United States, taking the hearts of 23 out of 50 states. KitKat and Hershey came in second and third, taking six states and five states, respectively. Interestingly, Indiana is the only state holding onto Butterfinger as their most searched candy, and Baby Ruth is the least searched for chocolate nationwide.
“Share of search is a powerful tool for brands to figure out how they stack up against competitors, and how to leverage trends based on actual search volumes to forecast brand growth,” said Rodrigo Graviz, CEO of My Telescope, in a statement. “Data can be geo-fenced by state or country to accurately reflect searching trends by geography. When combined with specific keywords, Share of Search data can give valuable insights on what people are going to do, what they think, how they feel, and what they’re going to buy.”
