Netflix has sealed the fate of its critically acclaimed crime drama Ozark.
The streaming service announced on Tuesday that it has renewed the series for a fourth and final season. And unlike the show’s first three seasons that were comprised of 10 episodes each, the program’s last installment will have a total of 14 episodes, which will be split into two parts of seven episodes each.
“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right,” said showrunner Chris Mundy of Ozark’s super-sized season 4 in a statement. “It’s been such a great adventure for all of us ― both on-screen and off ― so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”
Executive producer Jason Bateman, who also plays Marty Byrde in the series, is equally delighted with the news, saying, “A super-sized season means super-sized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end with a bang(s).”
While Mundy and Bateman are both pleased that Netflix has given them the opportunity to give Ozark a proper ending, a lot of fans are actually disappointed that the streamer pulled the plug on the series so soon. Because if they had a say in the fate of the series, they would definitely renew it for more seasons.
Should’ve done 6 seasons. The show wasn’t even close to overstaying it’s welcome, it’s the best show on netflix.

Ozark season 3 hit the streaming service last March, and based on how things ended in the finale, many fans believe that the show could go on for several more seasons.
Ozark season 3 ridiculously fire and was perfectly set up for WAY more seasons and they wanna decide 4 is the last ??♂️

The way ozark ended literally opened up a whole new level of what the show had, there’s so much more room left. @Netflix @OzarkOfficiaI #ozark

Though many fans agree that Ozark could go past season 4, others think that wrapping up the series on a high note is much better than having a longer run of the show but with a crappy ending. After all, some fans think that the world of Ozark could be explored further with a potential spinoff.
Final season? Welp. I thought we’re getting at least two more seasons – but okay. It’s better to end on a high note than to go on and on till the show is trash. #Ozark https://t.co/8RXimWiO9N
