Nabisco is bringing back Oreo Cakesters 10 years after the popular snack cakes were taken off shelves.

On Thursday, Oreo announced on its social media accounts that Oreo Cakesters are returning to retail stores across the U.S. in early 2022. The announcement comes with a photo of Oreo Cakesters’ original box and a picture of the treat’s brand-new packaging.

Surprisingly, Oreo Cakesters aren’t the only Cakester that will be on shelves starting next year. Nabisco also revealed on Thursday that the all-new Nutter Butter Cakesters will be available for purchase in early 2022.

Nutter Butter Cakesters

Oreo Cakesters feature a smooth vanilla creme filling between two soft chocolate-flavored snack cakes. Nutter Butter Cakesters, on the other hand, are made with real peanut butter filling sandwiched between two classic snack cakes.

While the exact launch dates for both Cakester variants are yet to be announced, Nabisco confirmed that the Cakesters will be permanent additions to both the Oreo and Nutter Butter portfolios.

The original Oreo Cakesters debuted back in 2007. They, however, were discontinued in 2012, much to the dismay of fans. While Nabisco didn’t provide a reason for taking Cakesters off the store shelves at the time, some speculated that the original recipe was simply less popular than people thought.

But ever since Nabisco stopped producing Cakesters, a lot of people have reached out to the snack company requesting to bring back the fan-favorite treat. Apparently, all their efforts were not in vain, as Nabisco has finally decided that it’s about time for the Cakesters to make a triumphant return.
