Free Guy is officially getting a sequel.
Free Guy star Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter last Saturday to reveal that Disney wants a follow-up to the sci-fi action-comedy film.

To confirm the news, 20th Century Studios retweeted Reynolds’ post. Director Shawn Levy also shared the actor’s post in a quote tweet, adding “Yuuuuuuuup.”
The news of a Free Guy sequel comes just one day after the movie was released in U.S. theaters last Friday, grossing $10.5 million in its debut, including $2.2 million in Thursday night previews. As of last Sunday, the movie has already earned $50.9 million at the box office worldwide.
Written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn, Free Guy centers on a teller named Guy (Reynolds) who works at a bank that always gets robbed. Guy soon discovers that he’s not real and is just a non-playable background character in a violent open-world video game called Free City. When Guy finds out that the Grand Theft Auto-like video game is about to be discontinued, he steps up by saving his friends from getting deleted by the game’s creator (Taika Waititi).
On Rotten Tomatoes, Free Guy currently holds an approval rating of 82% based on 204 reviews. The review aggregator’s critics consensus calls the film “frivolous fun,” thanks to its clever concept, sweet and self-aware humor, and charming cast.
Aside from Reynolds and Waititi, Free Guy also stars Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Joe Keery, Camille Kostek, Britne Oldford, Matty Cardarople, and Mike Devine.
