The Wendy’s menu is getting a new Frosty flavor perfect for the upcoming spring season.

What is the latest Frosty flavor at Wendy’s?

The fast food chain is introducing the all-new Orange Dreamsicle Frosty to its U.S. menu later this month.

The Orange Dreamsicle Frosty is a unique spin on a familiar flavor, packing a spoonful of sweet orange notes combined with the classic smooth vanilla Frosty for a dreamy orange cream experience,” a spokesperson for Wendy’s described the new Frosty flavor to Nation’s Restaurant News. “The eye-catching orange color of this delectable treat was inspired by the spring season.”

Interestingly, the Orange Dreamsicle Frosty flavor wasn’t only inspired by the nostalgic childhood popsicles from our youth like the Orange Creamsicle, Orange Julius, and Cool Cream Push-Up Pops. John Li, the chain’s Global VP of culinary innovation, revealed to Today that the new Frosty flavor was also inspired by a fan-favorite fragrance.

“I normally don’t do this, I’ll usually bring in food props, but I actually brought in something else. This is actually the cologne I wear,” Li said while holding a bottle of Sephora’s Tangerine Boy. “Tangerine Boy is a good example because they know that citrus is something that should be celebrated as a part of spring. We take those same exact elements that people are searching for and put it into food form.”

To come up with the right formula for Orange Dreamsicle Frosty, Wendy’s culinary team reportedly tested various types of citrusy flavors, like mandarin, yuzu, navel orange, fresh orange juice, cooked orange marmalade, tangerine, and more, because they all taste slightly different from one another.

“It’s a back and forth,” Li said of finding the right flavor for Orange Dreamsicle Frosty. “You start broad and then slowly start to narrow into where we finally say, ‘We’re ready.’”

Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on how the Orange Dreamsicle Frosty tastes especially when paired with Wendy’s French fries, but odds are it’s also a perfect, dippable partner.

When will Wendy’s Orange Dreamsicle Frosty officially launch?

The official launch date for the new Orange Dreamsicle Frosty is Tuesday, March 19, 2024, which coincides with this year’s first day of spring. The new flavor will temporarily replace the Vanilla Frosty flavor. The Chocolate Frosty flavor, meanwhile, will still be available throughout the Orange Dreamsicle’s run.

It’s not clear how long the limited-time run for the new treat will last, but if you are a Frosty fan who wants to try it, it’s best to act fast so you don’t miss out on this new seasonal flavor.

Are there other seasonal Frosty flavors at Wendy’s?

Yes, there are other seasonal Frosty flavors in addition to the recently announced Orange Dreamsicle flavor. As pointed out by USA Today, with the Orange Dreamsicle Frosty becoming available on the first day of spring, Wendy’s has now completed offering a flavor for each season. The chain has previously released the Strawberry Frosty for the summer, fall’s Pumpkin Spice Frosty, and winter’s Peppermint Frosty.

Wendy’s dynamic pricing model

In other Wendy’s news, the fast food chain announced its plans to implement a dynamic pricing model as soon as next year.

In a Feb. 2024 earnings call, Wendy’s CEO Kirk Tanner explained that once the chain adopted a dynamic pricing model prices of menu items would fluctuate based on factors like time, location, and demand. As part of the implementation, digital menu boards will be installed in each location, so customers will see changes in prices, deals, and menu offers in real-time.
