The official trailer for the Disney+ movie Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is finally out, and it doesn’t need a pair of eagle eyes to notice that the promo video is stuffed with cameo appearances from a number of popular Disney characters.
Lumiere from 1991’s Beauty and the Beast, Flounder from 1989’s The Little Mermaid, and Seth Rogen’s Pumbaa from 2019’s The Lion King all make an appearance in the trailer. The video also features a washed-up version of Peter Pan, a photo of one of Snow White’s seven dwarfs, a cosplayer in Thor costume, and a pair of mice dressed up as Star Wars’ Princess Leia and Anakin Skywalker.
At one point in the trailer, Chip (John Mulaney) and Dale (Andy Samberg) face an evidence wall filled with accessories from different animated characters. There’s Mickey Mouse’s glove, Robin Hood’s hat, and Sora’s keyblade. Interestingly, the evidence wall also features nods to a number of non-Disney characters, including Jimmy Neutron’s hair, Samurai Jack’s katana, Snagglepuss’ face, and what appears to be Detective Pikachu’s tail.
What is Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers about?
A continuation of the animated TV series of the same name, Disney+’s Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers picks up 30 years after the Rescue Rangers series ended production. Chip now works as an insurance salesman while Dale has had “CGI surgery” and works the convention circuit in hopes of reliving his glory days. When a cast member of the original series mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must reunite with the rest of the group, save their friend, and rebuild the two’s friendship.
A co-production between Walt Disney Pictures and Mandeville Films, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is directed by Akiva Schaffer and written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand.
When will Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers come out?
Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is scheduled to be released on May 20th on Disney+ as a Disney+ original film.
