Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and Dragon Ball Super

The new installments of the Shonen manga series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and Dragon Ball Super have been released.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations chapter 54 continues to tell the story of the ongoing war between the ninjas of Konoha and the Kara Organization. In the latest entry in the Masashi Kishimoto-created manga, Konoha deals with the aftermath of the battle against Jigen, being immediately flung into a new fight that hits a little too close to home. Since Sasuke incurred a serious injury in the last chapter, the fight becomes a face-off between Kawaki and Boruto, who is once again overtaken by Momoshiki.

As readers can remember, Momoshiki, upon being killed by Boruto in chapter 10, chose to turn Naruto’s son into a vessel for his chakra by transferring his Kāma to him. This allows Momoshiki to manifest and take complete control of Boruto’s body for short period of times. Over time, however, Momoshiki’s genetic profile may completely overwrite Boruto’s, at which point the Kāma will disappear and Momoshiki will resurrect, ultimately taking over the boy’s body and erasing his personality.

Dragon Ball Super chapter 68, meanwhile, officially kicks off a new arc called Granolah The Survivor. The new chapter of the Akira Toriyama-created manga dives deeper into the world of the titular alien bounty hunter named as Granolah, the sole survivor of the Cerealian race that was annihilated by the Saiyan Army headed by Goku’s father, Bardock.

Aside from revealing more about Granolah’s plans and the power hiding within himself, the latest chapter also gives fans a peek at Goku’s training alongside Whis, who reveals to the Saiyan for the first time that Ultra Instinct actually has a hierarchy to it. In other words, Ultra Instinct is a milestone power that has stages of power-ups to follow.

Chapter 68 also confirms that Vegeta’s initial plan to not follow in Goku’s power-up footsteps again and surpass him in another way is still in place. During a conversation with Beerus, Vegeta learns that Ultra Instinct is hardly the only godly power a warrior can achieve. “Ultra Instinct ain’t the only technique of the gods. That’s just the Angels’ specialty,” teases Beerus.

The next chapters of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and Dragon Ball Super will be both released on February 19th.
