The CW drops the trailer for The 100 prequel spinoff pilot 1

Our first glimpse at The 100 prequel spinoff pilot is finally here.

Late last week, The CW released a promo video for The 100 season 7, episode 8, which serves as the backdoor pilot for the sci-fi drama’s prequel spinoff.

The minute-long teaser starts with Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) meeting Bill Cadogan (John Pyper-Ferguson) in the flesh for the first time. “I’ve seen you before. How the hell are you here?” a confused Clarke asks, to which Bill answers, “That’s a very long story.” Bill is the founder of the Second Dawn doomsday cult, which, as he described to Clarke, is “a collective of great minds dedicated to the continuation of our species.”

The trailer then cuts to a series of chaotic scenes moments before the Nuclear Apocalypse that eliminated the majority of the human population on Earth several years ago. At some point in the video, Becca Franco (Erica Cerra) ― the scientist that created the AI A.L.I.E., which was the one responsible for the Nuclear Apocalypse ― tells Bill that she has to shut it down, but it looks like it’s too late, as missiles have already hit the ground, obliterating almost everything within their reach.

Bill made his first appearance in season 4, which revealed a huge fallout bunker built under Baltimore by Second Dawn, roughly 10 years before most of the human race was wiped out in nuclear fire. Though Bill was seen charismatically rallying his followers in an archival video uncovered over a century after the Nuclear Apocalypse, he only sheltered a few of the Earth’s high-paying elite while the cult’s followers on lower caste levels were killed after sheltering in false bunkers.

In the previous episode, Anders (Neal McDonough), leader of the Disciples, awakens Bill from cryo-sleep, revealing in the process that the latter is actually The Shepherd. When Bill asks Anders if the war has begun, the former says “No. But we have the key.”

That key, as the Disciples previously claimed, is Clarke who will allegedly play a huge role in the so-called humanity’s last war ― a foreshadowed conflict whose details are still largely unknown.

Titled Anaconda, The 100 prequel spinoff pilot episode airs on Wednesday, July 8th at 8 p.m. ET.
