Reese’s has a very special treat for peanut butter purists!

In celebration of National Peanut Butter Lovers Day last Monday, the candy brand announced that it is releasing a chocolate-free version of its iconic peanut butter cup.

Called Reese’s Ultimate Peanut Butter Lovers Cup, the latest iteration of the fan-favorite confection is stuffed with the same beloved Reese’s peanut butter inside and a 100% peanut butter candy-flavored shell on the outside.

While closely similar to previous versions of Reese’s Peanut Butter Lovers Cup that came out in 2019 and 2020, Reese’s Ultimate Peanut Butter Lovers Cup is unlike any other Reese’s Cup, as this is the first time in the brand’s more than 90-year history that its peanut butter cups have taken chocolate completely out of the equation.

“While launching a Reese’s Cup with absolutely no chocolate might come as a shock, we’re giving the truest peanut butter fans something to go wild about,” said Reese’s brand manager Margo McIlvaine in a statement. “The frenzy that comes with changing an icon like the Reese’s Cup is real – but you can still enjoy the classic plus get more peanut butter flavor with a new option that’s every peanut butter lover’s dream!”

Reese’s Ultimate Peanut Butter Lovers Cups will be available in standard (1.4oz, $1.09), king size (2.8oz, $1.79), and miniatures (9.3oz, $4.09) at retail stores across the country starting in early April 2021 for a limited time.

Interestingly, it looks like Reese’s has more surprises in store for peanut butter lovers. “If you think it can’t get any better, you’re wrong. The Reese’s brand has a few more tricks up its sleeve in the upcoming weeks so if you’re a peanut butter lover, be on high alert…,” said Reese’s parent company, Hershey’s, in a news release.
