2020 isn’t over yet but it seems that M&M’s is already set for next year’s Easter season.
Last week, Instagram account @candyhunting revealed that M&M’s may be releasing a key lime pie flavor in 2021. @candyhunting shared a photo of a 2.47-ounce pack of the new tart flavor and noted that a page for the product is already up on Meijer’s website.

Although M&M’s has yet to announce an exact release date for the new flavor, Meijer’s page for the product indicates that it’s an Easter candy, so it will likely be available in retail stores around March 2021, right before the holiday.
The description of the new product on Meijer’s website doesn’t provide any specific details about the candy, but judging by its packaging, it appears that M&M’s fans are in for a treat. The bag states that the candies are made with white chocolate and artificial flavor of a classic key lime pie, which consists of a graham cracker crust, key lime filling, and whipped cream topping. The packaging also features a variety of white and green M&M’s and Ms. Green holding a slice of key lime pie while wearing a straw hat with key limes adorning the brim.
Though it’s not clear when M&M’s started to develop the key lime pie variant, @candyhunting pointed out that the flavor was actually first suggested by Delish.com back in 2017 for a real or fake M&M’s flavor slideshow.
Before Key Lime Pie M&M’s hit store shelves next year, the new Sugar Cookie M&Ms will first launch later this month in time for the 2020 holiday season. A take on the holiday-favorite sugar cookie, Sugar Cookie M&M’s are made with a white-chocolate, sugar-cookie-flavored shell complete with M&M’s classic crispy chocolate center. Packed in a Christmas-themed bag, these candies come in festive colors of red, green, and white.
