Nancy Drew season 2 trailer gives a sneak peek at a new mystery in Horseshoe Bay 1

The official trailer for Nancy Drew season 2 is finally here, and it opens with an intriguing new mystery, in which the Drew Crew finds themselves entangled.

A female victim of an assault was found in a cabin in the middle of the woods, and according to Horseshoe Bay police chief Abe Tamura (Ryan James-Hatanaka), the woman’s last words before she lost her consciousness were Nancy’s (Kennedy McMann) name. The victim has no ID or phone, making it hard for the authorities to identify her. A mysterious message written on the palm of her hand also makes her case even more puzzling.

While the Drew Crew has a new case to solve, the sleuthing team has not forgotten that the Aglaeca is still after them. At the end of season 1, the Aglaeca sent each member of the Drew Crew a vision of how they will die: George (Leah Lewis) and Nick (Tunji Casim) drown, Ace (Alex Saxon) is impaled on a meat hook, Bess (Maddison Jaizani) burns to death, and Nancy falls off a cliff. In the season 2 trailer, the members of the crew are reminded of those terrifying visions, with Bess saying: “Death can come to us at any moment.”

In one of the scenes from the trailer, Nancy and her pals find themselves trapped inside an old, graffiti-covered bus. “Everybody, stay calm!” Nancy tells the others. “It cannot find us if we’re not afraid.” While the trailer doesn’t reveal what exactly the “it” is, its spooky hand that appeared in the video resembles that of the Aglaeca.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Nancy is still coping with the revelation that the late Lucy Sable (Stephanie Van Dyck) is her mother and the affluent socialite Ryan Hudson (Riley Smith) is her father. The titular character finds a tree with Lucy’s initials carved in it, and the video shows a glimpse of Ryan paying his respects to Lucy in the same location. Is a heart-to-heart talk between the father and daughter duo on the horizon?

The trailer concludes with a better look at Edith Nickerson (Jeryl Prescott), Nick’s mother, who surprisingly drops a Stephen King shoutout. “Stephen King is right. Maine is filled with terrifying ghosts,” Edith warns in the teaser before shots of scary supernatural threats in Horseshoe Bay quickly flashes on the screen.

Nancy Drew season 2 is set to premiere on Wednesday, January 20th at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
