McDonald’s and Nando’s may be launching vegan burgers soon

McDonald’s has reportedly re-teamed with Beyond Meat for its new vegan burger

It looks like McDonald’s and Nando’s are about to add vegan burgers to their U.K. menu.

Vegan Food UK has obtained photos suggesting that the fast-food giant and the chicken restaurant chain are both in the final stages of bringing vegan burgers to their British customers.

The McDonald’s image is from a survey that the fast-food chain conducted in the U.K. As stated in the photo, the new vegan burger is made with Beyond Meat patty served on a sesame seed bun with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, vegan mayo, and a slice of vegan cheese.

Though the image doesn’t serve as an official announcement for the new vegan burger, Vegan Food UK confirmed that they heard about McDonald’s plans of adding a Beyond Burger to its menu from insiders some months ago. And the image from the survey is the first photographic evidence confirming that the fast-food chain really has plans of offering a vegan burger in the U.K.

This isn’t the first time McDonald’s has teamed up with Beyond Meat for a vegan burger. When McDonald’s jumped aboard the plant-based burger meat train in 2019, it partnered with Beyond Meat for its PLT (Plant Lettuce Tomato) Burger. McDonald’s started to sell PLT Burger in 28 locations in Ontario, Canada in September 2019 before quietly nixing it from its menu this April.

Meanwhile, the Nando’s image obtained by Vegan Fook UK, looks like an instructional sheet made for the restaurant chain’s kitchen staff. Reportedly titled How to make a Peri Plant Burger, the recipe reveals that the new vegan burger is consist of a basted Peri Plant puck, Portuguese roll, vegan Perinaise, burger salad leaf, and a slice of beef tomato.
