Emmet’s Holiday Party: A LEGO Movie Short

Emmet gets the whole Apocalypseburg into the Christmas spirit in this new LEGO Movie 2 short film.

Released by Warner Bros. Pictures on Monday, the two-and-a-half minute clip starts with the ever-optimistic Emmet (Chris Pratt) interrupting Lucy’s (Elizabeth Banks) regular brooding session. Depressed by how the Duplo invaders turned their home into a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Lucy opens up to Emmet about how everyone is having a hard time adjusting to their new life in the desert. To cheer Lucy and the whole town up, Emmet decides to throw a Christmas party.

While Lucy doesn’t think it’s a good idea, she isn’t able to stop Emmet from executing his plan as he has apparently figured it all out in advance. With Emmet leading the way, Benny (Charlie Day), Princess Unikitty (Alison Brie), Batman (Will Arnett), Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the rest of town people manage to put up a spacious ice skating rink and a huge Christmas tree.

Everyone is in awe when Emmet finally lights up the tree. Though Lucy can’t help but show her admiration for the gleaming holiday décor, she’s worried that the colorful Christmas tree would give their town unwanted attention. Coincidentally, that’s actually what happened, as the shape-shifting alien queen of the Systar System, Watevra Wa-Nabi (Tiffany Hadish), sees the town’s luminous Christmas tree from space and decides that it’s time to pay them a visit.

Watevra sends her minion General Sweet Mayhem (Stephanie Beatriz) to Apocalypseburg. Upon seeing General Sweet Mayhem’s starship, Lucy orders everyone to prepare for a fight. But instead of firing a missile at the Apocalypseburgers, the starship launches a star décor that goes straight to the top of the town’s Christmas tree, making it more marvelous than ever. Surprised by the Systar System’s special gift, everyone continues the festivities as the song Everything is Awesome starts playing in the background.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part opens in theaters on February 8th, 2019.
