Has Carmen Sandiego been cancelled or renewed for Season 3? 1

Netflix’s Carmen Sandiego is coming back for Season 3!

The third season pickup was announced last week via the official social media accounts of the action-adventure series.

Naturally, the show’s Season 3 renewal has made fans very happy, with many of them taking to Twitter to thank Netflix and to express how excited they are for the new season. See some of the fan reactions below:

The episode count for the upcoming season is currently unclear, but since Season 2 consists of 10 episodes, it’s likely that Season 3 would have the same number of installments.

No exact release date has also been revealed. But given the eight-month gap between the show’s freshman and sophomore runs, it wouldn’t be surprising if Season 3 ends up premiering sometime this June.

In Season 2, Carmen (Gina Rodriguez) sought answers about her past and true identity. At the end of the season, Carmen found out that her father was Dexter Wolfe, V.I.L.E. Faculty and Shadow-san’s (Paul Nakauchi) predecessor who went by the moniker The Wolfe. When the Faculty learned Wolfe’s plan of leaving V.I.L.E. following Carmen’s birth, V.I.L.E. ordered Shadow-san to remove him. But before Shadow-san could carry out the mission, Wolfe was killed by Agent Tamara Fraser (Dawnn Lewis), who is now the Chief of A.C.M.E.

Also in the Season 2 finale, Carmen left Chief Fraser a V.I.L.E. data-drive, which allowed Player (Finn Wolfhard) to hack A.C.M.E. and corroborate Shadow-san’s account on Wolfe’s death. From that file, Carmen learned that her mother, Vera Cruz, faked her death and is still alive. Enraged by the hack, Chief Fraser reinstated Agent Devineaux (Rafael Petardi) to hunt down Carmen.

While plot details about Season 3 are being kept under wraps, it looks like the new season will revolve around Carmen looking for her mom.
