Yesterday (Sept. 18th), Brie Larson rolled out the first official trailer for Captain Marvel on ABC’s Good Morning America. After an agonizing four-year wait since the movie was first announced, we got our first real glimpse into the film.
The roller coaster of a trailer gives us a peek into the challenges Carol Danvers will face in the upcoming flick. We learned that the plot will not revolve around an origin story, but will instead focus on her battles with Ronan, as well as the shape-shifting Skrull aliens. From what we’ve gathered, it appears that Captain Marvel will return home to the Kree Empire to meet up with Starforce before returning to Earth. This is bolstered by the fact that we see Captain Marvel in her Earthly red and blue suit, as well as her Kree-themed superhero, get up.
Led by Brie Larson, Captain Marvel is the first Marvel film to feature a female lead in a decade. The film, which is set in the 1990s, also features Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan, and Jude Law as the leader of Starforce.
Sources say we can expect it to hit the silver screen on March 8th, 2019.
