Star Wars-inspired names for pets may sound silly, but a lot of owners are actually drawing inspiration from the epic space opera franchise when naming their pets.
In celebration of Star Wars Day, pet insurance provider Trupanion searched their database of more than 700,000 pets and ranked the most popular Star Wars-inspired names that fans have given to their furry family members.

Taking a liberal approach with their passion for the George Lucas-created universe, some owners incorporate their dog’s canine-ness or their cat’s feline-ness with the names of iconic Star Wars characters.
Chewbarka sits on the first spot, while its female counterpart Chewbecky secures the fifth place.
Royal-sounding names like Vader Von Wigglebum and Poe Dameron II Duke of Whales rank second and third, respectively.
Canine-centric Star Wars-inspired names Bark Vader (4th), Luke Skybarker (6th), Pug Vader (7th), Furry One Kenobi (8th), and Luke Sky Barker (9th) are also included in the top 10.
Rounding out the list is the feline name Darth Meow.

While many owners get creative in coming up with Star Wars-inspired names for their pets, many owners keep it simple by literally naming their pets after Star Wars characters.
The most popular is Chewbacca, followed by Luke and his on-screen sister, Leia.
Obi takes the fourth spot, while franchise newcomer Kylo manages to secure the fifth place.
Vader sits in the sixth place, with Wicket rounding out the top seven.
