Aside from their renowned electric vehicles, Tesla makes many different branded products that aren’t related to cars. For example, the company has Tesla-themed USB chargers, hats, shirts, mugs, kids’ toys, and other merchandise. Just a few days ago, writers at Electrek noticed a new item – a $1,500 Tesla surfboard.
Known as the ‘Telsa Lost Carbon Fiber Surfboard’, the listing for the company’s latest item was live only for a few hours before being removed. The listing is now back online, however, the board has since completely sold out – perhaps the reason why it was taken down in the first place.
According to the item description, Tesla’s limited-edition surfboards were designed by the company with help from Lost Surfboards and Matt “Mayhem” Biolos – a world-class surfboard designer. The description goes on to say the carbon-fiber reinforced surfboards are coated with the same industry-leading finishes Tesla uses on its vehicles.
Although there will only be a limited run of 200 boards, critics say $1,500 far exceeds the standard asking price for top-of-the-line surfboards, which typically range from $700 – $1000. Regardless, it took the automaker just hours to completely sell out – suggesting there’s a high demand as well as a willingness to pay whatever Tesla is asking for.
If you’re still interested in purchasing a Telsa board of your own, all is not lost as a few have been spotted on eBay. Resale prices for many of the Telsa surfboards available on the site start at roughly $3000.The company says customers can expect to receive their boards in 2 to 10 weeks.
