Fashion company Her Universe is launching a new Star Wars apparel collection that pays tribute to the bravest female characters from the epic space opera franchise, both on the big screen and TV.
Called Sisters of the Force, the new clothing line features shirts, tees, dresses, jackets, coats, hoodies, and pullovers inspired by the looks and admirable qualities of Leia Organa, Rey, Padmé Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, Rose Tico, Amilyn Holdo, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and many others.
“Sisters of the Force, to me, represents women in Star Wars,” Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein told StarWars.com. “Whether it’s the characters, whether it’s the fans, whether it’s the women who work on Star Wars, there are all of these strong women who bring Star Wars to life. And while my dream with Her Universe, from day one, has been to spread the message that Star Wars is for everyone, I wanted to shine the spotlight on the women of Star Wars with this collection.”
While Sisters of the Force includes fan-favorite items that have subtle yet striking Star Wars references, the real highlight of the selection are the clothes that incorporate everyday cosplay touches while also being functional. Check out the complete line below:
Leia’s Cape Coat
This textured jacquard cape coat is inspired by Leia Organa’s cape coat that we see in the movies. Its shorter length and minimal embellishment — the Rebel Alliance symbol at the back and a metal nameplate on the front —makes it more of an everyday casual wear than an event costume.
Rey Tee
This unisex cut shirt features a black and white photo of Rey imprinted with the inspiring quote: “The belonging you seek is not behind you. It is ahead.”
Padmé’s Lake Retreat Dress
Featuring a flowy chiffon fabric complete with a bustle and delicate finger loops, this dress is a ready-to-wear version of Padmé’s lake house dress seen in Star Wars Episode II — Attack of the Clones.
Padmé’s Lake Retreat Hoodie
Since some fans find the Padmé’s Lake Retreat Dress too fancy for everyday use, Her Universe designed this hoodie in similar pastel hues to suit their taste.
Padmé Nouveau
This shirt is a reissue of Her Universe’s most popular shirt when the company first launched. Eckstein, who also voiced the character of Ahsoka Tano in several Star Wars animated series, said that the shirt hasn’t been available for over 5 years, “but people still request it because their first shirt is worn out or they’re a newer Her Universe fan.”
Ahsoka Sweatshirt
Designed by Daniel Kennedy, event marketing and PR coordinator at Lucasfilm, this unisex pullover incorporates Ahsoka’s signature lekku markings and other identifying features in the design.
Ahsoka Windbreaker
Featuring Ahsoka’s iconic lekku markings, this windbreaker is not only a nod to Ahsoka, “but also kind of a nod to cosplayers,” Eckstein said.
Rose Tico Army Jacket
Inspired by Rose’s jumpsuit, this army jacket features cozy fleece hood and a couple of embroidered patches that match the character’s necklace.
Holdo’s Dress
This version of Holdo’s dress has a looser fit and a shorter cut that makes it more versatile for everyday wear. Making this dress even more functional are the pockets on its sides.
Sabine Leather Moto Jacket
This jacket is inspired by Sabine Wren’s armor from the first season of Star Wars Rebels. It includes nods to the Mandalorian artist’s handiwork as well as a back panel “inspired by the front of her helmet,” Eckstein said.
Hera Pullover
This pullover features the line “we are hope,” which is Vanessa Marshall’s personal favorite quote from the character Hera Syndulla in Star Wars Rebels. Marshall is the actress that gives voice to Hera.
Constellation Shirt
Designed by Ashley Taylor, this shirt features 27 Star Wars female characters celebrated as constellations.
Logo Tee
This black tee features a black Star Wars logo on the front and a quote from the Wrong Jedi episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars that reads: “Never give up hope, no matter how dark things seem.”
The complete Sisters of the Force collection will be available at Star Wars Celebration Chicago and on HerUniverse.com starting April 11th.
