The highly anticipated season 2 of Star Trek: Lower Decks is just a month away, and to make fans even more excited about the show’s return, Paramount+ has dropped a brand-new teaser featuring what seems to be one of the most thrilling scenes from the upcoming season.
In the 15-second video released on Twitter, Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome) and Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid), both in their Starfleet dress uniforms, are seen making a quick getaway in a vehicle aboard a Starfleet space station. The pair is getting chased by Starfleet security officers after seemingly taking a number mini statues in the likeness of Data with them. While it’s not clear what exactly is happening in the chase scene, the clip has definitely made more fans intrigued about the show’s 10-episode sophomore run, which is set to premiere on August 12th.

At the end of the first season, Boimler left the USS Cerritos and Mariner to take a new posting under Captain William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) aboard the USS Titan. In the first teaser for season 2, which dropped on First Contact Day last April, Boimler is seen panicking in the USS Titan’s bridge after getting a very specific instruction from Captain Riker that he doesn’t understand, and while they’re being attacked by enemies.
“Oh, man, I don’t know how much I can say. We released a teaser trailer, basically, I don’t know, like a month ago or something. And in it, you can see Boimler is on the Titan and he does have everything that he wants, but he remains very skittish and very freaked out,” Quaid told ComicBook.com last May, when asked what fans can expect from his character in the new season. “So it’s like be careful what you wish for a bit. It’s everything he ever wanted, but it’s very intense for him. So we’ll see how he fares with that, and that’s about all I can say. I think.”
More details about Star Trek: Lower Decks season 2 are expected to be revealed by Paramount+ later this month, as the streamer is set to bring the animated series to Comic-Con@Home as part of the Star Trek Universe panel block. The Star Trek: Lower Decks panel will take place on July 23rd after a presentation for the upcoming kids’ animated series Star Trek: Prodigy.
