Star Trek: Discovery is the first-ever series set in the Star Trek Universe that was developed specifically for a streaming service, which allows it to tell more serialized stories with longer arcs. As most recent Star Trek shows, Discovery features an impressive production value similar to a high-budget movie, but what really makes it stand out among other sci-fi series out there is its diverse cast and its complex stories that boldly explore different social and political issues. If you haven’t watched the series yet or are planning to re-watch its previous seasons, this article will help find out where and how you can stream the sci-fi series online.
Where to watch Star Trek: Discovery online
If you’re in the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Korea, Latin America, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, and Austria, you’ll be able to watch the first four seasons of Star Trek: Discovery on Paramount+, the streaming service formerly known as CBS All Access and owned by ViacomCBS.
Seasons 2 and 3 are also available on the Pluto TV Star Trek channel in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. In Canada, the television series airs on Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel and streams on Crave.
Fans in the U.S. can also stream the first four seasons of Discovery on DirecTV and on the Paramount+ Channel via Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Roku.
Is Star Trek: Discovery on Netflix?
The first three seasons of Star Trek: Discovery previously streamed on Netflix in select countries outside of the U.S., including the U.K. But Netflix lost the international streaming rights to the series in 2021 and all seasons of the show eventually moved to Paramount+.
How to stream Star Trek: Discovery with a VPN
If you live in a country where Star Trek: Discovery content is not available, you’ll need a VPN to access a streaming service that offers the series. A VPN will mask your real IP address and will assign you one that belongs to a different country of your choice, which in this case would be one where Paramount+ is available. If you’ve never used a VPN before, follow the three easy steps below to set up one.
- Download and install a VPN: Sign up for a VPN service like NordVPN and download its application for your device to install it.
- Connect to a server where Star Trek: Discovery is available for streaming: After you’ve installed a VPN, you’ll see that the app has a list of server locations to choose from. To be able to watch Discovery on Paramount+ choose a U.S. server or any server where the series is streaming.
- Access Paramount+: Once you’re connected to the server of your choice, access Paramount+, and you’ll automatically get access to the library, and be able to stream Discovery. If you have any issues with the streaming service detecting the VPN, try a different server location.
Where to buy or rent the Star Trek: Discovery TV show
