The final Sonic the Hedgehog 2 trailer has been released and it shows how the new character, Knuckles, is a perfect adversary for the titular blue hedgehog.

The new trailer opens with the wedding of Rachel (Natasha Rothwell) and her fiancé (Shemar Moore) in Hawaii, which unfortunately gets ruined when Sonic (Ben Schwartz) phoned Tom (James Marsden) for help.

“Life or death situation. I need you to use the ring to save me. Like right now,” Sonic tells Tom. With the ring serving as a transport portal, Sonic and his new furry friend, Tales (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), safely land in Hawaii, but with a massive mound of snow in tow that causes total chaos to the wedding.

When Maddie (Tika Sumpter) asks Sonic what exactly is happening, the latter says Robotnik (Jim Carrey) is back and that the villain has discovered the source of ultimate power, the Master Emerald. Sonic says they need to get it back or the world is doomed.

But obtaining the Master Emerald won’t be easy for Sonic, as he needs to face Robotnik’s new ally named Knuckles (Idris Elba). A red echidna with super-strength, Knuckles is a force to be reckoned with, as he can keep up with Sonic’s physical abilities. In the final scene in the trailer, Knuckles manages to punch Sonic right in the face despite the latter’s supersonic speed.
