Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson became MCU’s newest Captain America after finally picking up the mantle of the shield-wielding superhero in last Friday’s season finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. And to make things official, Marvel, on Monday, has updated Captain America social media pages by replacing images of Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers with photos of Sam in his very own Captain America suit.
Both the official Facebook and Twitter pages of Captain America now have a photo banner featuring Sam as the Star-Spangled Avenger. The pages were also updated to include Sam’s signature “On your left” line.
Though The Falcon and The Winter Soldier branded itself Captain America and The Winter Soldier at the end of the show’s season finale, Marvel keeps the series’ original title on Disney+ and in recently released promotional materials like the poster below.
It’s not clear whether there’s going to be a second season of The Falcon and The Winter, but The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Friday that Malcolm Spellman, head writer and creator of the Disney+ series, is developing a fourth installment of the Captain America film series. Spellman will co-write the script with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier staff writer Dalan Musson.
While casting and plot details on Captain America 4 are being kept under wraps, the feature will likely continue the adventures of Sam as he embraces his new role as Captain America in the MCU.
No director is currently attached to the movie, and it’s not known whether Evans will reprise his role as Steve in the movie.
Captain America 4 doesn’t have a release date yet.
