The zero-sugar version of Mountain Dew Frost Bite now has a release date.
The soda brand announced on Monday that Mountain Dew Frost Bite Zero Sugar will be exclusively available for a limited time at more than 4,300 Walmart stores across the U.S. starting March 22nd. The sugar-free Frost Bite variant will come in 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce 12-pack cans.
In the same announcement, Mountain Dew also revealed that the original, full-sugar Frost Bite will add a 24-pack to its lineup, in addition to the 20-ounce bottles and 12-packs that it already has.
Though Frost Bite Zero Sugar has just been officially announced, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the soon-to-be-released soft drink has already been listed on PepsiCo’s website as early as two months ago, complete with a photo of its 20-ounce bottle.
As seen in a picture obtained by the snack-tracking Instagram account @CandyHunting last January, Frost Bite Zero Sugar’s 20-ounce bottle has a black cap and a black label, while the 20-ounce bottle of the original Frost Bite has a white cap and a blue label.

Originally released as a limited time offer from March to June 2020, Frost Bite ultimately became an exclusive permanent flavor at Walmart stores in the U.S. Cobalt blue in color, Frost Bite is described as “a burst of icy refreshment and cool melon.” It is the second Mountain Dew flavor exclusively released at a retail store, the first being Maui Burst at Dollar General stores.
“Dollar General fans have always embraced the Mountain Dew Maui Burst flavor with enthusiasm. Their excitement translated on social media and at the registers,” Mountain Dew marketing chief Nicole Portwood said in a statement in January 2020. “We’re thrilled to respond to fans by making Maui Burst permanently available at Dollar General.”
