Bottom Line
Mophie's UV Sanitizer with Wireless Charging may be the best addition for your desk in this post-covid era. After 5 minutes of targeted UV rays, your phone will be rid of 99.9% of surface bacteria. While the device looks good, it struggles with some design issues.
Pros
Easy sanitization for your phone
Looks good on a desk
USB-C Charger included
10W wireless charging
Cons
The lid is smooth plastic that lacks grips for preventing your phone from sliding off
There is no way to tell if the UV lights are on without lifting the lid
You have to trust that it's doing what it's supposed to do -- your phone won't look or feel cleaner
4.2

Get ready for a slew of new sanitization technology; it’s no longer just for the germophobes. Mophie’s new device is a UV sanitizer capable of disinfecting your smartphone and other small gadgets in just a matter of minutes. It even doubles as a 10W wireless charger.

The Mophie UV Sanitizer is plasticky, but light and portable enough for travel. Although it’s a bit plasticky, it looks nice on a desk. Simply put your phone, keys, or whatever is small enough into the container and press the button. 5 minutes later it should be germ-free. It will fit just about any phone and most cases, but maybe not the super bulky cases.

The kicker is that mentally your phone doesn’t look, feel, or seem cleaner or less germy. Of course, this doesn’t mean it’s not, but you may not find it as mentally satisfying as wiping down your phone with a disinfectant wipe. The beep after 5 minutes of UV sanitization is all the validation you’ll get that your device has been disinfected. Otherwise, there is no way to tell if the UV lights are on or not without lifting the lid.

The UV-C light is supposed to kill 99.9% of surface bacteria, namely staph, and e-coli. You can see a small glimpse of the purple UV with the lid very slightly ajar, but the process immediately stops when you open the lid. You don’t need to flip over your phone as the device can target all exposed sides. There’s no heat, liquid, or chemicals required, so in theory, it’s way better for your phone or device in the long run.

The UV Sanitizer comes with a USB-C power cable that plugs into the wall. The device is effortless to use and I was surprised by how little information and instruction came with the device. Put stuff on top of it to wirelessly charge them. Put stuff in it and push the button to clean them. The outside button always glows blue.

Mophie UV sanitizer with wireless charging review verdict

The Mophie UV Sanitizer box prices in at $79.95, and we’ve already seen it well discounted online. While we’re not fans of the plasticky build, it’s not a bad price for the ability to safely clean and disinfect your phone. Since it doubles as a wireless charger and looks nice on a desk, we found it really convenient to plop our phone in it every day while we’re working.
