MediaTek releases 5G chipset for tablets

MediaTek launches an SoC for tablets, the Kompanio 1300T

MediaTek has launched its newest SoC for tablets, the Kompanio 1300T. Designed for all-around devices, the chipset is equipped with advanced 5G, and upgraded multimedia, AI, and gaming technologies.

With the continuing popularity of work-from-home or hybrid lifestyles, portable and powerful devices grow in demand. Offering faster connectivity speeds and a host of productivity features, the Kompanio 1300T is bringing the best to premium devices.

It features TSMC’s 6nm process technology with an octa-core CPU, Arm Cortex A78, and Arm Cortex-A55 cores In the graphics department, it housing a nine-core Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU for increased performance across the board.

The integrated modem supports 5G sub-6GHz bands and Dual 5G SIM. It also supports 2CC Carrier Aggregation, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2. Additional 5G features include 5G Elevator Mode and 5G HSR Mode enhancement.

Know for faster battery drain, MediaTek handles 5G’s power consumption with its UltraSave power-saving enhancements.

Mobile workers will appreciate the support for two full HD displays. Displays powered by this chipset can support up to 2.5K resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate.

MiraVision technology offers eye protection by intelligently adjusting the screen’s hue saturation, brightness, sharpness, resolution, and frame rates.

Cameras up to 108 megapixels are supported with 4K at 60fps recording. Additional imaging features include Multi-Depth Smart Focus and AI-Clear Streaming.

Voice assistants are, of course, supported and feature an ultra-low power voice on wakeup function. Gaming is enhanced by MediaTek’s HyperEngine 3.0 with gaming optimizations for networks, controls, performance, power, and more.

MediaTek says that companies have already adopted this new chip to power new Chromebooks and tablets. Devices that carry the new Kompanio 1300T are expected to arrive in the third quarter of 2021.
