MediaTek is announcing its newest flagship processors, the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and the Dimensity 1100. Both are 5G-capable chipsets that offer a host of new features and improvements to overall performance, camera, graphics, connectivity, and AI.

Prior to its release, leaks were already circulating the internet about how the Dimensity 1200 would outperform Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865. While we can’t verify yet if that’s true or not, MediaTek’s latest looks pretty impressive on paper.

The Dimensity 1200 boasts of premium performance backed by its octa-core CPU, ultra-core Arm Cortex-A78, and three Arm Cortex-A78 super cores. Graphics are supplied by a nine-core GPU mated with a six-core MediaTek APU 3.0. The chip can also be overclocked up to 3Ghz.

Next in line, the Dimensity 1100 is also powered by an octa-core CPU with a four Arm Cortex-A78, four Arm Cortex A-55, and a nine-core Arm Mali-G77 for graphics. Both chips also provide 6nm process technology.

The two flagship processors indeed carry promising specs that are quite certain to provide top-tier performance. In addition to that, they also offer improved features. MediaTek made sure to include battery-saving features in the form of its UltraSave technology, so browsing on 5G won’t eat up too much power. Both the 1200 and 1100 support this and will be able to provide features such as 5G carrier aggregation across frequency division duplex, True Dual SIM 5G, dynamic spectrum sharing, and more.

Qualcomm’s latest flagship, the Snapdrgaon 888 5G, boasts of having premium camera features that let users achieve professional-grade photos. Not to be left behind, the flagship Dimensity 1200 supports up to 200-megapixel photos supported by five-core HDR-ISP. Video has also been improved with increased dynamic range and capture of up to 4K HDR.

The Dimensity 1100, on the other hand, supports up to 108-megapixel photos and is integrated with APU 3.0 for high-performance, power-efficient computing. Lastly, both chips offer a couple of in-camera features such as AI-Panorama Night Shot, AI-Multi-Person Bokeh, AI noise reduction, and more.

Display technology has also been given a boost with the Dimensity 1200 supporting up to 168Hz refresh rate and Dimensity 1100 up to 144Hz refresh rate. Supporting MediaTek’s HyperEngine 3.0 gaming, phones powered by either chipset will receive the benefits of 5G connectivity, and increased touchscreen responsiveness when gaming. Graphics-wise, both chipsets support ray tracing and AR apps.

The Dimensity 1200 and 1100 also support Bluetooth 5.2 which allows simultaneous streaming to more than one wireless device. Additionally, true wireless earbuds will sound even better thanks to their ultra-low latency support and LC3 encoding.

MediaTek says that devices powered by the Dimensity 1200 and 1100 chipsets will be arriving as early as the end of the first quarter of this year or the start of the second quarter.
