Lenovo is announcing two new affordable AMD Ryzen-powered ThinkPad laptops for the brand’s E-series. The ThinkPad E14 and ThinkPad E15 will come equipped with AMD’s Ryzon PRO 4000 series mobile processors which offer more cores for better performance at competitive price points.
Both laptops’ displays have been designed with narrower bezels for an improved screen-to-body ratio of 85%. They will also come with Harman-branded speakers with support for Dolby Audio for a better entertainment experience. The ThinkPad E14 and E15 will, of course, be carrying ThinkPad’s famed keyboard with added hotkeys for Microsoft Teams or Skype for Business. Both device’s power button has an integrated touch fingerprint to allow easy, one-touch power and login. Additional features also include dual-array far-field microphones and optional WiFi 6.
Continuing the legacy of highly-durable laptops, both the ThinkPad E14 and E15 have undergone 12 mil-spec tests to provide consumers the peace of mind they need in terms of their device’s reliability.
Security features that come the E15 and E15 offer include an optional IR camera and the software-enabled Glance by Mirametrix. With Glance, users are given access to additional software security features such as Presence Detection, Privacy Guard, and Privacy Alert. These features are dependent on the user’s presence. It will, for example, automatically lock the laptop when it doesn’t detect the user’s presence or if they walk away from the device. Apart from security features, Glance also offers productivity tools such as Snap Window and Smart Pointer.
Additionally, some of the previously announced Ryzen-powered ThinkPads have also been given an estimated release date and price.
The ThinkPad E14 and ThinkPad E15 will have a starting price of $639 and it’s expected around June 2020. As for the previously announced laptops, the ThinkPad T14 starts at $849, the ThinkPad T14s at $1029, ThinkPad X13 at $849, and ThinkPad L14 and L15 at $649. They will also be released sometime in June 2020.
