While the full LEGO Super Mario assortment won’t launch until August 1st, fans can now pre-order the LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Mario Starter Course on the LEGO website and from select leading retailers around the world.
Described as the entry point to the LEGO Super Mario world, the Starter Course features a LEGO Mario figure and seven action bricks, which are all only included in this set.
LEGO Mario has color sensors and LCD screens in his eyes, mouth and belly that display over 100 different instant reactions to movements. It’s also built-in with a speaker that plays iconic sounds and music from the video game.

In the Starter Course, LEGO Mario collects virtual coins as he runs and jumps from the Start Pipe to the Goal Pole via LEGO bricks, cloud platforms, and the Question Block. Along the way, LEGO Mario also has to deal with Goomba and Bowser Jr. figures that try to slow him down.
The bricks in the 231-piece Starter Course can be rearranged to create new levels to master. A free LEGO Super Mario app also helps players make building easier by suggesting other creative ways to build levels and play.
Priced at $59.99, the Starter Course can be combined with upcoming LEGO Super Mario Expansion Sets, which unlock unique challenges and characters to play with and against friends.
The first two Expansion Sets revealed on Tuesday are the Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set and the Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set. Both Expansions Sets will be available at a later date for $29.99 and $99.99, respectively.
