LEGO has unveiled a huge building kit based on the iconic Mario villain, Bowser.
Called The Mighty Bowser, the new LEGO set is a highly detailed recreation of the King of the Koopas, complete with controllable movements and the ability to launch a fireball.
How big is The Mighty Bowser?
The LEGO Super Mario character model, including its display stand, measures over 12.5 in. (32 cm) high, 16 in. (41 cm) wide, and 11 in. (28 cm) deep, making it the biggest LEGO Bowser ever. The entire kit is comprised of 2,807 pieces, including newly designed LEGO elements to recreate the look of the character’s iconic spikes.
What makes it different from other LEGO Bowser?
Aside from having a fireball launcher, the model also comes with a button to control the character’s head and neck movements. His mouth, arms, legs, and tail are also movable, letting fans replicate the fearsome nature of the Koopa King that they know and love from Mario video games.
The toy also has an interactive element. Fans that own a LEGO Super Mario Starter Course can choose to battle Bowser against LEGO Mario, Luigi, or Peach, allowing for truly immersive and digitally enhanced play.
“Bowser is, quite simply, the ultimate boss – and we’re delighted to announce that we’re introducing this oversized version to the LEGO Super Mario adult line for a little added peril,” said Carl Merriam, Senior Designer, LEGO Super Mario. “Since we launched LEGO Super Mario two years ago, we’ve been on such a journey – gradually expanding with the most iconic and recognizable characters of the LEGO Super Mario universe.”
The Mighty Bowser is the latest addition to the LEGO Nintendo line that features a range of Super Mario-themed building kits, each designed to evoke nostalgia from fans who remember Mario as an intrinsic part of their childhood. Launched in 2020, the LEGO Nintendo line also includes the previously released buildable LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System and the iconic “?” Block with levels from the Super Mario 64 game inside.
The Mighty Bowser is part of LEGO’s Adults Welcome series, which has been long-anticipated by Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs) who want to challenge themselves with a detailed set that will truly bring back fond memories of the past.
“Adding LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser really is a blast from the past for many Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs). He might be the big boss, but he still brings back a warm feeling of nostalgia to adult Super Mario fans worldwide,” Merriam said. “Just as defeating Bowser was always the ultimate challenge in the Super Mario games, here we’re challenging fans to build the King of the Koopas from nearly 3,000 pieces. We know they’re up to the task and will be chomping at the bit to get their hands on this great new addition to the Super Mario line.”
