Taco Bell customers can now create their own combo meals with the fast food chain’s new $5 Build Your Own Cravings Box.
Launched last Tuesday, the $5 Build Your Own Cravings Box is exclusively available to Taco Bell Rewards members on the Taco Bell app until February 10th. The customizable Taco Bell cravings box will then become available to all digital customers starting February 11th.
The limited-time Taco Bell cravings box has 18 different variations, as customers can choose one item for each of the following categories:
- Specialties: A signature item like the Chalupa Supreme, Cheesy Gordita Crunch or Crunchwrap
- Starter: A Crunchy Taco, Soft Taco, Beefy 5-Layer Burrito or Bean and Cheese Burrito
- Side: Chips & Nacho Cheese Sauce or Cinnamon Twists
- Drink: A choice of medium fountain drink
Though the Taco Bell cravings box is advertised at $5, the price may vary depending on location. And while the value bundle is available for app or web pay-ahead orders, the offer is not valid with delivery orders.
In a news release, Taco Bell’s chief global brand officer Nikki Lawson hyped the $5 Build Your Own Cravings Box while subtly throwing shade at McDonald’s celebrity meals.
“As we see it, there aren’t a lot of choices out there when it comes to value, forcing customers to play by others’ rules. But when your fans have different favorites on the menu, why not celebrate that?” said Lawson. “The Taco Bell I’m proud to lead does it differently ― we put fans in the driver’s seat and allow them to eat how they want to eat, not how someone, irrespective of how famous they may be, tells them to.”
As fast food lovers can remember, McDonald’s partnered with music artists Travis Scott and J Balvin last fall for the restaurant’s first celebrity meals in nearly 30 years.
Though the Yum Brands chain has no plans of launching a celebrity meal any time soon, it announced that it will be teaming up with a number of celebrities for the digital and social media campaign of the new Taco Bell cravings box. Those celebrities include actor Noah Centineo, TikTok influencer Nava Rose, K-Pop star CL, iconic Drag Queen Onyx Black, and BMXer Brad Simms.
“However, the celebrities won’t be sharing their own orders, but rather reminding consumers to never settle for someone else’s taste buds,” Taco Bell said in its release.
If you’re not a Taco Bell Rewards member yet, all you need to do is download the app and register for an account.
