Remember those ring-shaped jelly candies that kids used to jokingly ask their friends to marry them back in the day? Well, bespoke jewelry brand Taylor & Hart just turned those sweet treats into an actual engagement ring.
Based specifically on the Haribo Friendship Rings candy, Taylor & Hart’s sweet-inspired ring features a 2.70-karat cabochon yellow sapphire set with 40 fancy-intense yellow diamonds in an 18-karat yellow gold basket. It also features an 18-karat rose gold band adorned with 224 custom-cut rubies with a total weight of 3.60 karat.
“Combining custom-cut rubies and a syrupy cabochon yellow sapphire, this ring is one of the most ambitious we’ve ever created and definitely one of the most original,” Kate Earlam-Charnley, design director at Taylor & Hart, said of the nostalgic piece of jewelry. “Made for the daydreamers, the hopeless romantics, those in search of something a little more pure and innocent, this ring is the perfect expression of love. It’ll certainly make a great story while also saying ‘love is forever’. We can’t wait to hear ‘Yes’ stories from our customers across the world!”
The ring was unveiled earlier this month as part of the jewelry brand’s Valentine’s Day celebration. “With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we thought it was the perfect time to bring this brand-new design to life,” Earlam-Charnley said at the time of the ring’s official launch.
The London-based jeweler is selling the ring for $34,300, the same amount of money needed to purchase over 1.25 million of the 2p jelly sweets.
