Have you ever been excited to come home to your freshly delivered package only to find a couple of porch thieves have already paid a visit? And with the holidays coming up next month, you can expect package poachers to be more active than ever. Fortunately, Comcast has just added a new service for its customers to help curb this problem.
For just $10 a month, the company is offering its customers a new Self Protection plan for those who want a monitored home without the need for professionally installed and monitored systems.
The Self Protection plan is available to Xfinity Internet customers with an xFi gateway. Unlike other monitoring services, Comcast offers full uninterrupted recordings that allow users to review up to a week’s worth of footage. The service also provides motion detection notifications or alerts that are sent directly to the user’s phone. And should you need to search for specific clips, the Self Protection plan offers a smart search feature that can sort footage by people or vehicle activity.
The monthly $10 fee, though, only pays for the service. Interested customers will still have to avail of Xfinity cameras that are cost $5 a month for 24 months or are available for a single payment of $120. These cameras can be installed without the need for a professional, they work both indoors and outdoors, and have a connected power source that eliminates the need for batteries. Customers can purchase up to 4 Xfinity cameras when applying for a Self Protection plan.
The Xfinity cameras along with the Self Protection plan are also capable of automatically connecting to WiFi and integrating itself into the Xfinity app for easy device management. Users can control recordings from anywhere using the app or even the Xfinity Voice Remote and cast recordings on their own televisions. Lastly, Comcast offers xFi Advanced Security protection that adds a layer of security for all connected devices of xFi Gateway customers.
