Nicholas Brendon, who is best known for his role as Xander Harris in the popular TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was arrested in Indiana on drug-related charges.

According to Vigo County Jail records obtained by Page Six, the 50-year-old actor was charged with prescription fraud of a controlled substance and refusal to identify himself while stopped for an infraction on August 18th.

As detailed in an affidavit acquired by TMZ, Brendon was pulled over for driving his silver Dodge Journey erratically in Vigo County, Indiana. Cops said the actor failed to signal and was swerving all over the place. He was also described as sweating profusely and “[appearing] nervous due to a visibly racing pulse on his neck and shaking hands.”

When the police asked him to identify himself, Brendon gave them a California ID for a “Kelton Schultz,” who he said was his twin brother. The actor’s full name is Nicholas Brendon Schultz, while that of his older twin brother is Kelly Donovan Schultz.

The affidavit goes on to reveal that the authorities found a “small plastic bag that contained crystal/powder residue” and a pill bottle in a bag with a medication prescribed to “Nicholas Bender.”

Due to “signs in the vehicle that narcotics were potentially being trafficked,” cops brought K-9 units to inspect the SUV. After the inspection, the authorities allegedly found several more plastic bags with residue as well as a prescription for amphetamine salts prescribed to Kelton.

When asked by the police why he lied to them about his identity, Brendon responded that he and Schultz “have the same prescription and they fill each other’s prescription.” Cops pointed out that Brendon admitted to taking pills that were prescribed to Schultz.

At that point, the authorities believed that Brendon was abusing the pills and or selling them. They also believed that Brendon “was using his brother’s ID to procure more or that the ID he initially handed … is fraudulent.” Cops arrested him for failure to identify and obtaining a prescription by fraud.

Per a Vigo Superior Court docket, Brendon is due in court for a hearing on December 2nd. His attorney, Christopher Eskew, declined to comment.

This isn’t the first time that Brendon has been arrested. The actor, who has openly struggled with alcohol and previously checked into treatment for depression, was arrested after a fight with his girlfriend in October 2015. That same year, he was also arrested twice for causing disturbances in hotels. Two years later, he was arrested again on another domestic violence charge.

Aside from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Brendon’s other notable acting roles include Seth Richman on Fox’s Kitchen Confidential, Kevin Lynch on CBS’ Criminal Minds, and Jackson Lee on MTV’s Faking It.
