The next MacBook Air could cost well below a grand

Apple might release a more affordable MacBook Air this spring

Rumors are percolating that a new sub $1,000 MacBook Air model could arrive this spring.

Apple doesn’t often offer budget, wallet-friendly focused products, especially when it comes to their laptops. To date, their most affordable laptop has been the discontinued 11-inch MacBook Air. Yet somehow, even with the 12″ MacBook being a few years old now, the 13-inch MacBook Air has managed to remain on Apple’s line up and continues to be a compelling entry-level offering.

Now a rumor is floating around that Apple is actually going to be releasing a new 13″ MacBook Air model that will also be affordable, and that it will cost even less than $1,000.

Despite Apple de-emphasizing the MacBook Air and promoting their 12″ MacBook, the 13″ MacBook has managed to stay a popular choice amongst college students, and this is undoubtedly due to its $999 price-point.

Which means that the introduction of a new sub $1,000 MacBook Air model would be a smart strategy for Apple’s laptop sales, especially if it would be priced significantly under a grand.

However, it’s not clear if this new MacBook Air will feature an overdue design change, or just a spec bump.
