The Amazfit X curved display smartwatch is finally available for pre-order

It offers 24/7 heart rate monitoring and various sports modes

First unveiled back at IFA last year, Xiaomi-backed company, Huami, has released its newest addition to its popular Amazfit brand of wearables. The Amazfit X Smartwatch is finally available for pre-order through the crowdfunding site, Indiegogo. It features a large futuristic 2.07-inch curved screen and button-free design.

The Amazfit X’s curved design was designed to curve at a precise 92-degrees to rest well on a user’s wrist. The larger screen real estate the watch offers means that there’s more room to navigate and control apps as well as lessening the need to scroll. It also makes reading through notifications, messages, and other information much easier.

That being said, the Amazfit X does go beyond the usual capabilities of a mere fitness band and categorizes itself as a smartwatch. It supports push notifications for SMS, emails, calendars, and much more and supports a variety of apps as well as Bluetooth control for music.

Huami explains that creating the curved glass screen involved a very detailed process. The material was heated to a specific temperature of 700-degrees Celcius before it goes through a 6-step bending process to achieve that super arc. Coupled with a titanium alloy body, the Amazfit X also boasts of durability and strength as well as corrosion resistance. It’s also been fitted with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass and an anti-fingerprint coating.

The button-free construction makes for a minimalist, straightforward design that exudes a premium feel. The Amazfit X is equipped, instead, with pressure buttons which are used to control the watch. The watch also uses natural vibrations alongside the pressure buttons to proved the user with a sense of control.

The Amazfit X features a 24/7 heart rate tracker that utilizes Huami’s own BioTracker PPG optical sensor to further enhance precision. It will also categorize the user’s heart rate into different zones depending on the reading.

Additionally, the Amazfit X will also be able to detect the user’s stress levels throughout the day by interpreting the data taken by the heart rate monitor. it’s also bringing in PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) Health for those who are more meticulous about tracking their health.

The Amazfit X is also able to measure oxygen levels and saturation in blood with the onboard SpO2 sensor. It also has additional features such as GPS + GLONASS, 6-axis IMU, and 5ATM water resistance.

Housing a 200mAh battery, the Amazfit X prides itself in providing 7 days of full functionality on a single charge. It also has 9 built-in sports modes such as outdoor running, walking, indoor and outdoor, cycling, swimming, and much more. Wrist straps are also replaceable and the device charges through a magnetic charging stand.

Currently, you can find the Amazfit X on Indiegogo with a limited introductory crowdfunding price of $149 (Actual retail price will be $329). Check out the other perks on its official Indiegogo page. Shipping is estimated to start in August 2020.
