Adidas Skateboarding honors Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique with a special-edition shoe

The commemorative footwear is now available at select North American skateboard retailers for $85 a pair.

Beastie Boys’ second album Paul’s Boutique turns 30 years old today. And to honor the album’s influence on the street culture, adidas Skateboarding teamed up with the hip hop group and street art exhibition Beyond The Streets for a special-edition commemorative shoe.

Called the adidas Skateboarding x Beastie Boys Americana, the low-top shoes draw inspiration from both the Golden Era of ‘90s skateboarding and classic adidas sport heritage. The footwear’s upper is an off-white vegan canvas with heather grey details along the collar and the Three Stripes design. A Beastie Boys graffiti-style logo created by artist Eric Haze is also found stamped on the shoes’ tongue and insole. Completing the low-key and stripped-down look of the shoes is a classic gum sole.

Priced at $85 a pair, these shoes are now exclusively available at select North American skateboard retailers and at Beyond The Streets gift shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York. A portion of the profits will be donated to PEACE sisters, a charitable institution supporting the education and empowerment of African women, and to non-profit organization Little Kids Rock, which provides free music instruction and instruments to public school districts across the U.S.

Produced in a limited run with only 500 pairs, the adidas Skateboarding x Beastie Boys Americana is likely to sell out fast. Fans that will end up not getting their own pair can try their luck spotting the shoes on different e-commerce sites, but they should expect the shoes’ price tags to be way more expensive than their original price.
