The LEGO Minifigure Factory is finally back online after over a year of hiatus.
What happened to the LEGO Minifigure Factory?
First launched as an in-store “Build a Minifigure” service in select LEGO stores in April 2022, the LEGO Minifigure Factory became an online experience in the summer of the same year.
However, after being accessible for LEGO fans for a few months, the full page for the make-your-own minifigure experience was temporarily closed. In October 2022, the shop’s online page said that LEGO was working on improving the service and that it would return at some point in the future.
Fast-forward to March 2024, the LEGO Minifigure Factory has officially re-opened and will now stay live on LEGO.com for the foreseeable future after the experience underwent some optimization.
What is the LEGO Minifigure Factory?
The LEGO Minifigure Factory lets you create and personalize a LEGO minifigure, allowing you to add a unique piece to your own collection of real LEGO products. The service lets you choose from a variety of minifigure heads, headwear, torsos, legs, and accessories. You can also customize the torso of your figure with different designs, and patterns, and even add some text to it.
These custom LEGO minifigures are the perfect gifts for birthdays, weddings, Christmas, and other special occassions.
How to build LEGO custom minifigures?
To create your own minifigure online, go the LEGO Minifigure Factory page on the LEGO website. Once you’re there, click the “Customize Your Minifigure” button to start the process. To create the perfect character for your minifigure, patience is key as browsing through the various customization options may take some time.
First, you will be asked to select a face for your custom minifig. After that, you will be able to pick a hairstyle, hair colour, or a hat for your little mini-me. After which, you can begin customizing your minifigure’s torso. There’s a wide selection of outfit you can choose from, which you can further personalize by adding text and various images (little pieces of art) that can be resized and posited anywhere on the torso however you like.
LEGO wants its minifigure factory to be as fun as possible for everyone so it doesn’t allow designs or wording about the following topics:
- Bullying and harassment: We don’t tolerate anyone being shamed, bullied, threatened, trolled, intimidated or harassed.
- Hateful content: Anything that praises, promotes, glorifies, or supports any hateful ideology
- Profanity and slurs: Anything featuring swearing, negative stereotypes or caricatures.
- Political content: Politics and political symbols, campaigns or movements.
- Religious content: Religious references including symbols, buildings or people.
- Inappropriate content: Anything depicting physical harm, glorifying self-harm, or featuring pornographic/nude content.
- Sharing personal information: Publicly revealing anyone’s personal information is not allowed (such as phone numbers or email addresses).
- Violent content and gore: Encouraging, promoting or glorifying killing, crime, violence, or violent extremism.
- Illegal and restricted activities: Illegal drugs, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia.
- External advertising: Don’t promote other brands or their products within your designs or content.
Third-party logos, names of organizations, and trademarks are also prohibited on the LEGO minifigure custom pieces. English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish, and Ukrainian are the only languages supported by the LEGO Minifigure Factory as of now.
When you’re done designing the torso, you will be asked to choose legs for your minifigure, and lastly, add accessories like a hairbrush, sword, tennis racket, broomstick, trident, and many more.
To finalize your custom LEGO minifigure, hit the “Complete My Minifigure” button, check out, and wait for your minifigure to arrive at your doorstep.
Why aren’t there more minifigure pieces to choose from?
The online version of the LEGO Minifigure Factory is currently in the beta stage, so features and options are limited at the moment. More face prints, hairstyles, torso options, leg types, and custom accessory orders are expected to become available in the future.
How much does it cost to make your own minifig?
Each customized minifigure costs $11.99. To check out your orders, you must register on LEGO.com with your e-mail and set a password.
As of March 2024, customers will only be able to order 1 minifigure per order. According to 9to5Toys.com, if you made your first purchase of custom LEGO minifigure from back in 2022, you’re still eligible to buy another this time.

As of March 2024, the LEGO Minifigure Factory does not ship to United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and other countries outside the United United States. But LEGO said that the experience and the product itself will be available to more countries and regions in the future.
Is the LEGO Minifigure Factory still available in LEGO stores?
