What started as a meme, will now be an officially licensed Xbox product. At this year’s E3, Microsoft took to the stage to announce a number of updates and new games, but one of the most anticipated is the company’s Xbox Series X mini-fridge. The mini-fridge is set to release this holiday season.
The release comes after the promise of Xbox General Manager Aaron Greenberg to produce the mini-fridge if Xbox won a Twitter contest against brands for the best tweets. Fans took to the challenge and voted for the brand which eventually led to it winning the whole thing.
When the Xbox Series X design first came out last year, the internet, of course, came up with a plethora memes and jokes. And probably the most popular is its comparison to a fridge. Xbox rode the wave and released a couple of actual full-size refrigerators based on the console’s design. The stunt received a warm reception with fans asking for a way to purchase it.
Since its release, there’s been much praise for the performance of Microsoft’s console and this Xbox Series X mini-fridge will most definitely be a valuable collectible for dedicated fans. The mini-fridge is, of course, still based on the console’s design.
Update: The Xbox Mini Fridge is now available to purchase for $129.
