ORIGINAL Story (April 5th): There are a lot of questions that need to be answered in tomorrow night’s season 3 finale of Batwoman. But the biggest question currently on the minds of several fans is “will there be a season 4 of Batwoman?”
The CW has yet to cancel or renew Batwoman for a fourth season. But it is not the only series on the network waiting to learn its fate. In a tweet, the Batwoman writers clarified that all CW shows have yet to find out whether or not they would return for another season.
“None of CW shows have been renewed yet. We are all waiting and focusing on ending our seasons strong,” read the tweet from the official Batwoman Writers Room account.
Whether Batwoman will end with season 3 or will go on for a season 4, the show’s writers have expressed their gratitude to the fans for supporting the series since it launched in 2019.
“No matter what happens, this show could not be possible without you all supporting us, tuning in, streaming, and tweeting,” tweeted the official Batwoman Writers Room account. “We are so proud of the fan space you have all created, and you are what makes us hopeful and excited for the future of #Batwoman.”
The CW has been known for giving early renewals to its original series, but this year is different because of the possible sale of the network. The Wall Street Journal broke the news of the potential sale of The CW in January, revealing that the network is reportedly being shopped by its corporate owners ViacomCBS and WarnerMedia, with Nexstar Media Group being one of the interested buyers.
Though The CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz released an internal memo to the staff addressing the “recent speculation in the press” around the network, he didn’t outrightly say that The CW is up for sale. He, however, did mention that ViacomCBS and WarnerMedia “are exploring strategic opportunities to optimize the value of their joint venture in the CW Network.”
