Originally released in Japan last June, Uniqlo’s AIRism face mask is finally coming to the U.S. this month.
The global apparel retailer announced today that its AIRism face mask will be available at all its stores across the United States and on www.uniqlo.com starting August 24th. Part of Uniqlo’s LifeWear collection, the AIRism face mask comes in packs of three with a price tag of $14.90 each.
Featuring a three-layer construction, Uniqlo’s face covering is made of anti-microbial and self-deodorizing AIRism mesh fabric that encloses a built-in filter at the center of the mask. The AIRism mesh fabric keeps wearers dry as it wicks away moisture, releases heat, and absorbs sweat. Unlike typical non-woven and cotton masks, the AIRism face mask has a soft and flexible inner layer that reduces stress on the wearer’s face.
The triple-layer mesh structure of the mask also keeps it light and thin, optimizing breathability. The mask also has a UPF 40 rating, blocking 90 percent of ultraviolet rays.
In line with Uniqlo’s commitment to minimize consumers’ environmental impact, the AIRism face mask is designed to be reused as a piece of daily wear. Machine washable with any regular household detergent, the AIRism face mask can be rewashed up to 20 times. Testing institution Kaken Test Center General Incorporated Foundation proved that the filter inside the mask’s triple-layer structure retains its efficacy after 20 washes at 40 degrees.
The AIRism face mask is available in three sizes: small (W:7” x H:4.5”), medium (W:8.5 ”x H:5.5”), and large (W:9” x H:5.5”).
