At this year’s IFA in Berlin, TCL is announcing their newest wearable, the TCL MOVETIME Family Watch. This smartwatch is pretty much a repurposed version of their MOVIETIME Family Watch for kids that has been redesigned with the senior community in mind, to provide aid and support to both seniors and their family. To that effect, the smartwatch is equipped with various tools to monitor and improve a senior’s lifestyle, all while maintaining their autonomy.

According to Peter Lee, General Manager of Global Sales and Marketing for TCL Communication,  “Globally, the senior population is growing faster than all other age groups combined and by 2050, one in six people will be over age 65”. TCL created MOVETIME because “Senior family members deserve daily care and connection while maintaining their independence”.

The MOVETIME Family watch boasts of a number of useful features. 4G connectivity is built into the watch so seniors can easily keep in touch with their family members, pretty much wherever they are.

With one-on-one and group chats available, they will be able to send voice messages, emojis and even pictures taken with the watch’s built-in camera. MOVETIME also has a large, easy-to-read font that is paired with a simple interface to help ensure ease of use to any user, regardless of whether or not they are technologically savvy.

Should there be an emergency, seniors can hold down the power button for three seconds to instantly send SOS messages to pre-assigned mobile numbers. MOVETIME’s locator app, along with third-party maps, can help family members navigate directly to the user due to its precise geolocation. It also comes with customizable safe zones, notifications, and location history that can be used to help monitor a loved one.

The list goes on as the MOVETIME also bodes of a number of activity and health features. The on-board pedometer will accurately keep count of the users’ steps as well as calories burned, and distance walked. A sleep monitor will track waking time, sleep duration, sleep cycle, and times in deep and light sleep. Movement and stretch reminders can also be set up to keep seniors from being sedentary for too long.

Family members will be able to remotely view these activities from their own smartphones via the TCL Connect app, and they will also be able to use the app to set up reminders and alarms for things like medication time, doctor’s appointments and other important activities.

The TCL MOVETIME Family Watch looks to be an easy to use, full-featured smartwatch that will definitely suit the needs of the senior community. With easy access to communication, health, and safety features, seniors can feel connected to their families at any time.

The TCL MOVETIME Family Watch MT40 (Senior Version) will be priced at €129 and will be available in selected markets later on in the year. Visit TCL’s official website to know more about their wearable devices.
