Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza is making its much-awaited comeback two years after it was discontinued.
When will Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza be back?
The fast-food restaurant chain confirmed on Monday that its fan-favorite Mexican Pizza is returning to the menu nationwide on May 19th. Members of the Taco Bell Rewards program, however, will be able to order the returning item as early as May 17th through the Taco Bell app for in-store and drive-thru orders. Taco Bell Rewards members who received a mystery reward during the Super Bowl in January will also get a free Mexican Pizza, which they can redeem starting May 19th.
For fans wishing to order Mexican Pizza without leaving their home, customers can enjoy the convenience of delivery exclusively through DoorDash for the first week (May 19th – May 26th) of the menu item’s return. The dish will then roll out to other delivery platforms beginning May 27th. In celebration of the return of the beloved treat, DashPass members can exclusively enjoy $2 off one Mexican Pizza with a minimum subtotal of $12 using the promo code MEXPIZZA at checkout.
Fans in Aruba, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic will also have the Mexican Pizza back on their menus at participating restaurants on May 19th.
Did Doja Cat bring back Mexican Pizza?
Taco Bell’s official announcement on Mexican Pizza’s comeback came one day after Doja Cat revealed the item’s impending return at Coachella last Sunday. “I brought back the Mexican Pizza, by the way!” she yelled to the crowd while singing a snippet of an unreleased new song that fans suspect is called F—ed Up.

While Doja Cat herself had tweeted twice about her craving for Mexican Pizza since it was taken off the menu, the Grammy-winning artist did not single-handedly usher in the return of the menu item.
Please @tacobell bring back Mexican pizza and spicy potato soft taco. I’m asking you nicely first.

Equally vocal with their pleas for the return of Mexican Pizza were the 170,000+ signatories of the Change.Org petition created by superfan Krish Jagirdar.
“Like many Indian-Americans who grew up vegetarian, we had limited access to the ‘fun’ fast food, so Taco Bell became a bridge to belonging in American culture for many kids like me who grew up in immigrant households,” said Jagirdar in a statement. “That’s what made it especially devastating when the Mexican Pizza was pulled from menus in 2020, but fast forward two years later and I found myself on a conference call with the Taco Bell team as they shared news of the return of the Mexican Pizza, showing that listening to their fans is clearly embedded in their DNA. It’s one of the many reasons Taco Bell is more than just another fast-food restaurant.”
The removal of the Mexican Pizza from Taco Bell’s offerings was part of the chain’s plan to streamline its menu in 2020. The goal of that menu streamlining was to make the chain’s kitchens more efficient and to significantly cut down its packaging waste.
Now, ahead of Mexican Pizza’s return, the chain said in a press release that the masterminds in the Taco Bell test kitchen had worked on the dearly missed menu item “to streamline operations and ingredient sourcing, and leave a lighter footprint at the same time.”
What’s in a Taco Bell Mexican Pizza?
Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza is made up of two crispy flour shells, layered with beans, pizza sauce, seasoned beef, tomatoes, and a melted three cheese blend, all for $4.49. Fans can make it a combo with a Mexican Pizza, 2 Crunchy Tacos, and a Large Fountain Drink for $8.99. The Mexican Pizza is also available vegetarian without the seasoned beef.
